GlaxoSmithKline's Cervarix protects young women against anal cancer, study suggests

Study results published in the journal Lancet Oncology suggest that GlaxoSmithKline's human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine Cervarix offered strong protection against anal cancer in women. Lead study author Aimee Kreimer said she is not sure if her study provides enough evidence for broader use of the vaccine, but it does add evidence that HPV vaccination can protect women of average risk in the general population from anal cancer.
